The COVID-19 outbreak may have changed how we travel, but it hasn't dampened our enthusiasm for exploring. Here are a few tips on how to deal with travel's new challenges:

• Research if any travel restrictions apply to your origin and destination before booking. Also check if there are any requirements you'll need to follow on arrival, such as mandatory quarantining.
• When you go through airport screening, keep your face mask on. You will be asked to lower it briefly to confirm your identity. Travellers who refuse to wear a face mask may face civil penalties and may also be escorted from the terminal.
• To reduce the possibility of cross-contamination, place your boarding pass on the scanner yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your boarding pass directly to a TSA officer.
• You're permitted to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on bag. You'll need to remove it for X-ray screening.
• Empty everything from your pockets, like your phone, keys and wallet, and place them in your carry-on rather than the bins. This will reduce handling during screening.
• Separate any food you're carrying for screening. Placing it in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA officer to touch and inspect your belongings.
